Community guidelines
Heal Kinder works because people feel safe enough to be honest. These guidelines apply in every group, in the chat, and everywhere on the site. By joining, you agree to follow them.
- 1
What's shared here stays here
Keep what people share in a group confidential. Don't repeat names or stories outside the room, and never record, screenshot or photograph a group.
- 2
Listen without judgment, share with heart
Everyone's experience is valid. Speak from your own experience ("I" rather than "you should"), let people finish, and give everyone a chance to talk. It's always fine to just listen.
- 3
Share experience, not advice
We're all here as peers, which is what makes it work: people who truly get it. Share what has helped you, but leave diagnosing, prescribing and medication or treatment decisions to each person and their own doctor or therapist.
- 4
No hate, harassment or bullying
No insults, threats, discrimination or hateful language about anyone's race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexuality, disability, age or body. Our chat filter blocks offensive language automatically.
- 5
Keep it safe and respectful
No sexual content, no graphic descriptions of violence or self-harm methods, and no sharing of anyone else's private details. Members must be 18 or older.
- 6
No selling or recruiting
Don't advertise products or services, ask for money, or move people into private chats or other platforms.
- 7
Cameras
Some groups ask everyone to keep their camera on, including all guided peer groups. Where cameras are optional, joining with yours off is completely fine.
If something doesn't feel right
- Use the flag on someone's video to report them privately. If enough people in the room report them, they're taken out, and our team is told.
- Hosts can mute or remove anyone who breaks these guidelines.
- You can always leave a room. Your wellbeing comes first.
- To tell us about something after a group, contact us.
Breaking these guidelines can lead to being removed from a group, or from Heal Kinder altogether.
Heal Kinder is peer support: people who've been there, listening and sharing. Many members find it a real help alongside any care they already have, though it isn't therapy or a crisis service. If you are in danger, call 911. In the US you can call or text 988 any time, or text HOME to 741741. Outside the US, call your local emergency number (Samaritans 116 123 in the UK).
